Birth of Venus
Sage Bhrigu, one of the seven great sages, was known for his immense wisdom and refinement. Though his four sons were knowledgeable and obedient, his wife, Khayati, longed for a child who carried both the spiritual depth of his father and the practical nature of her Asura lineage. She prayed for a son who could bridge both worlds, and from this wish, Usna was born. Unlike traditional sages, Usna’s wisdom was not limited to philosophy—he was highly practical, scientific, and strategic. His knowledge surpassed even the gods, earning him their respect. However, when he spoke against the gods’ bias toward demons, defending their right to live and learn, his views were met with resistance. Disheartened by their arrogance, Usna left heaven and became the teacher of the Asuras, guiding them to prosperity through diplomacy, intelligence, and strategy.
Usna, later known as Shukra or Venus, became the most powerful guru, surpassing even Jupiter in practical wisdom. He understood wealth, power, and the importance of material success. To support his disciples, he once hypnotized Kubera, the god of wealth, and took his riches for the Asuras. This act enraged Shiva, who, in his wrath, swallowed Usna whole. Yet, even inside Shiva’s stomach, Usna meditated peacefully, and Parvati, moved by his devotion, intervened, declaring him her son. Shiva forgave him, acknowledging his selflessness and naming him Shukra. Unlike Jupiter, who sees knowledge as supreme, Venus values love above all. He believes love is the essence of creation, the force that fulfills and transforms. His energy represents refinement—like a flower blooming after a plant has matured. He is the patron of beauty, art, and creativity, and his teachings remind us that while wisdom guides, it is love that truly completes life.
